Kressen Kernow - George Ellis Exhibition Design
An interactive exhibition design for the George Ellis Collection at Kressen Kernow, Cornwall's Archive centre
Challenge
When faced with the task of showcasing hundreds of archival photos from the esteemed collection of George Ellis, Kressen Kernow sought a dynamic exhibition design that would captivate visitors. They needed a presentation that not only conveyed the rich history of the photography but also encouraged active engagement with the subjects depicted.
Results
The culmination of our efforts was a striking exhibition layout, meticulously crafted to immerse visitors in an unforgettable experience. Within the expansive exhibit space, bespoke displays were strategically placed, each offering a unique interaction with the archival material. From captivating Augmented Reality costumes to exhilarating Virtual Reality simulations of WWII planes, visitors were transported through time and space. Immersive touch screens allowed for seamless exploration of the extensive photo collection, while a cozy reading corner provided a sanctuary for deeper reflection, complete with mockups of the original ledger books from the photographer. Designed with accessibility in mind, the exhibition catered to visitors of all ages and backgrounds, inviting school groups and historians alike to uncover the profound history behind each image and connect intimately with the individuals captured within them.
